Pavel, an inventor from Brazil, had obtained a patent on his invention (
in entertainment electronics) in 1972 in some countries, but not in
several others. About a decade ago, a Japanese manufacturer whom he
sued, had to shell out over $10 m. to him and acknowledge that he was
the original inventor. Name the item (launched in 1979) or the most
widely used brandname under which it sold.
